Guest post: Movie Magic: Why making movies is the perfect ESL speaking activity for kids

This post (on the FluentU website) gives ideas for encouraging kids to be the movies stars as they practice their speaking English out loud. Using movies to learn/teach language provides endless opportunities for repetition and practice, and if the students themselves are involved in creating the movies then there is even more opportunity for involvement and practice.

It explains:

  • how to get started, using scripts from well-known movies,
  • where to find scripts,
  • a better way to help them use the script rather than reading in a monotone voice.
  • how to use a microphone
  • how to help shy kids
  • managing equipment
  • recording
  • safety issues
