What happens when we die? So many people have no idea, and yet they may say they are not worried about it. Nevertheless when a loved one dies they hope that they have gone to ‘a better place’. And sometimes – especially if it is a child – they feel better by making up a story about them sprouting wings and turning into an angel. (Really?? Where did that idea come from?)

Most people think that if we are just good enough, then we get to go to Heaven. And where did that come from? That’s not what it says in “the good book”. Only perfect people can get into Heaven. Not just good, but totally perfect. And no one ever has been, ever will be, or ever can be.

Except, of course, Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect human life, and was killed like a criminal, and came back to life (because he was perfect). Because I believe in him, and trust in his sacrifice, I am confident of going to Heaven on the basis of that.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

It’s really quite straightforward.
